Dodo: travel tips and stories

April 25th, 2008

Dodo.com is a travel-focused portal with stories, tips, ideas and people to find and met. You can also share your fotos and videos as well as browse travel diaries. Some of them are of poor quality I thought, but some are well written and worth the reading.

Cheap Beds online

April 18th, 2008

This is a nice idea to get / offer a cheap bed when travelling: AirBed & Breakfast. The service needs a free account, where you can check for events. If you found one (or add a new one), you can post for or offer a bed. You will meet with people like you and no anonymous hotel.

Snowkiting? A new way to travel…

March 28th, 2008

Ok, this is not Costa Rica, this is not sunny, warm weather, and it’s not about surfing. But: snowkiting is a pretty adventuresome way to travel, shown by 3 extreme sport guys in North Dakota. Check out their site, it’s fun.

snowkiting

If you try to do it, pray for wind from the right direction … and enough snow.

Flying in Central America

March 14th, 2008

If you want to come to Central America and move around in the region more quickly than with cheap but slow busses, try TACA Regional. They are represented in Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Panama with their local airlines, and serve many countries in the region.

I found a nice blog post from Iva about Latin American airlines, informative and full of ideas.

The most crowded pool I ever saw

March 3rd, 2008

We know what crowded beaches mean to surfers. But check this crowd in a huge pool in Japan - including artificial waves…

300 Meters of Artificial Beach

February 29th, 2008

This is only possible in Japan: an artificial beach (length 300 meters!) with swell, surf board rental and roof. If the beautiful sand, the warm water and the always nice wheather is an argument, than maybe the artificial volcano with smoke and fire. The artificial beach is called Ocean Dome and is on Kyushu Island, 1.500 kilometers south of Tokyo.
