Our guests: Corinne

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

The past couple of months we had the pleasure of Corinne Weidman from Erlinsbach, Switzerland (www.iuna.ch) staying in our camp. Not only did she display and sell pieces of art in a local art show, she also decorated the camp and is a member of the Zopilote crew.

Corinne, what inspires you in your work?

Corinne: I have always liked the art and handcraft of foreign countries especially the figures of middle and south America, Polynesian design and the Japanese animal representation.

You try to connect art and nature, where is that from?

Corinne: The nature plays a big role in my life, I try to spend a lot of time with surfing, snowboarding and hiking in the mountains, I think that effects my painting.

You’ve stayed longer in the camp then you expected, spending a lot of time on your art. How do the surroundings effect your work?

Corinne: First of all the motives adjust to the types of animals and plants in the environment I am surrounded by. Your get completely new inspirations and ideas through the life here, what is completely different from back home. Not to mention the atmosphere in the camp is wicked, with all the different people from around the world and the awesome crew.

Catchword: Surf and Art

Corinne: What should I say, I just pained my first surfboard and for what I know there could be a 1000 more coming…

No cars on the beach!

Friday, February 11th, 2011

We were a little bit sad about tourists driving and parking on the beach with their cars and we decided to do something against it: DON’T DESTROY WHAT YOU CAME TO ENJOY!

The Zopilote Surf Camp is exactly that. A surf camp. I arrived not  knowing the first thing about surfing and left with the knowledge and  the passion to return to the ocean as soon as possible.  The instructors are there to answer any question  you have whether it be “Why can’t I get up?” to “what is the difference between a beach break and a point break?”.

Though the camp is geared towards surfing, chilling out and getting to know other travels, there is nothing relaxed about the professionalism that is offered by the two key hosts
of the surf camp. Bruno and Ulli make sure you feel at home and will help you with anything. I plan to return asap.

And here my video from a quad trip:

Beach clean up

Monday, May 10th, 2010

All the guests and friends from the playa Hermosa community helped to clean our beach. It took us over 4 hours to collect the garbage between el rey patricio and playa Hermosa point. We collected 29 garbage bags, mainly plastic, which was given to the municipality for dispose.

Thanks to all the friends who helped to keep our beaches clean!

Our guests: Juho from Finland

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Juho came from Finland to the Zopilote surf camp, and was happy to be with us: “I can not think of any better place. This has been exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful, original, quiet and still pure attitude of surfing.”

What did he enjoyed the most? “Never thought that a group of +30 years old can have so much fun out of a tattooed $2 barbie doll me and Andrea bought Niko for his 34th birthday…you probably might see a movie coming out soon! And for sure the turtle just 1 meter away while I was surfing.

So, what’s the most difficult thing about learning to surf for you? “I am not gonna go into tricks and quick turns because I am too far away from those but hardest thing to learn was reading the ocean and finding a spot to catch a proper green wave.

Something personal you want to add? “My vocabulary isn’t good enough to express the royal tastes of every dinner and breakfast. I recommend Zopilote surfcamp to everyone – it’s been pure awesomeness!
THANK YOU!”
