Surfer survives Big White attack

A surfer from Guerneville was attacked and dragged about 15 feet underwater near Dillon Beach, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, by what is believed to be a great white shark. The surfer survived with minor bite injuries.

The surfer was attacked when resting on his board some hundred feet off Dillon Beach, California. Then a shark, 12 to 15 feet long, clamped onto his surfboard, its teeth shooting through the board, dragged the board and surfer who was holding the board hard. The shard dived about 15 feet but had to release both, the board and the surfer, due to the resistance . As the surfer popped up at the surface, he and a friend quickly to shore.
After the incident, the surfer added, “It was an excellent day to be surfing.”

The spot is known for shark activity as seals and sea lion populations live there.
