Underwater camera

It is not easy to ask someone to take some fotos of you surfing. Either he/she is risking his cam and standing in the waves hip-deep, or there is somebody out there with a nice teleskop, your chances of a good shot are minimal. Or you take your camera with you out there.

A very good idea to have some good pictures of your surf is to buy a waterproof camera. This must not be expensive as some models are for the one-time use: you have the film and throw away the cam. In Costa Rica, this is the very cheap way for some spectacular pictures. The disadvantage is that you have the pictures provided only as a foto, but not digital. If you don’t mind, than this is fine for you.

Almost all camera producers offer these one-time cameras: Kodak, Fuji, Canon, … see here for an example. The costs are low: around 10 US$.

The next option would be to protect you camera - either by bag (see here for a solution) or by a water-proof case. Not all cameras may be equipped by such a case, but check this option too (see here for a model).

The best, but more expensive solution is a true underwater camera. Soon, there should be a new cam on the market which is handy and affordable (460 US$): the sea-sea model 860G.
