Coldest day in 25 years
Wow - the coldest day in November for 25 years was recorded last week Thursday (Nov 23): 12.5 Celsius (54.5 Fahrenheit) in San José.
In the Central Valley, the cold front of last week brought strong winds and sometimes chilly temperatures, so in the mountain areas of Cartago and San Ramón where temperatures dropped to even lower. At the Cierro Chirripó, with an elevation of 3.819 metres (12.532 feet) the highest point in Costa Rica, the weatherman says that it probably hovered just above the freezing point.
However, the weather service reported for the beach areas of the North, South and Central Pacific (Guanacaste, Golfito, Jacó) temperatures with daytime highs in the 31/32 Celsius, while it cooled down at night to a low of 19 Celsius. For european or north american conditions a “dream”.
