Guanacaste National Park
Volcanos, forests and rich animal life - that is the Guanacaste National Park.
The 700 square km wide Guanacaste National Park lies just 30 km north of Liberia in Costa Rica, right at the Interamericana from Nicaragua to San José. On the opposite side, you’ll find the Santa Rosa National Park.
The two most obvious landmarks are the Cacao and Orosi volcanoes. Many paths and hiking trails lead through the park with hundreds of different plants and dozens of rivers. The rich fauna includes reptiles, insects, peccaries, pocket mice, white-tailed deer, pumas, ocelots and black hawks.

There are different park stations, but not all of them are accessible by car. Some offer a camping ground, some also beds. The Guanacaste National Park may be closed or not accessible during wet season (April-October).
Entrance fee is US$ 6.
