Air travel from Central America to Costa Rica

Another option to get to Costa Rica is by air from Central American countries.

When you’re already in Central America, some flight options may be more comfortable than bus travel, despite higher fares. Airlines serving Costa Rica from neighouring countries are:

  • AeroNica (from Nicaragua)
  • Mexicana
  • Copa (from Panama)
  • Sahsa (from El Salvador)
  • Taca (from Costa Rica)
  • NatureAir (from Costa Rica)

Costa Rica flights can be purchased at deeply discounted rates if you plan your trip early and purchase your ticket well in advance.

You can get flights from all the capital cities of Central America to San José, and some from regional airports abroad too. This includes:

  • Mexico: Mexico City, Cancun and other major airports
  • Guatemala: Guatemala City, Flores
  • Honduras: La Ceiba, Roatan, San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa
  • Nicaragua: Managua
  • El Salvador: San Salvador
  • Panama: Panama City, Bocas del Toro
