Where to surf? A book tip
It is difficult for the young traveler or the novice surfer to know where to go for a surf vacation or surf tour. Besides many surf camp offerings, first of all choose the place where you want to go. But there are so many …
One way to solve this dilemma is the famous World Stormrider Guide, a book presenting various surf spots all over the earth. First, you’ll find some general but useful background information about wheater, climate and the creation of wind, swell and surf.
The next sections follow the coasts of Europe, Africa, Indian Ocean Islands, East Asia, Australia, Pacific Ocean Islands( see here for some surf stories from New Zealand) North and South America as well as Central America and the Carribean.
Each spot is covered with pictures, maps, travel information, surf conditions, a +/- summary, some surf stats like water temperature, swell size and consistency. In total, 80 surf locations are presented. But this is not all: every of the 80 places has numerous surf spots, which are described in a detective manner - left or right breaking? To worry about locals? Where to sleap? How much to pay?
We used the book in our first travel and like it very much. It is indeed a very goog introduction into surf travelling.
You can order the World Stormrider Guide through Amazon.com or Amazon.de.
German readers who like to travel without a surf board may also use this travel blog as a source for ideas and information.
