Ok, this is a little bit off topic and not normally what surfers do: hiking. Hiking, a very popular outdoor activity in Austria and the Alps in general, is a great alternative in Costa Rica too.

In Costa Rica, hiking is some times the only possible way to discover a remote place like one of the many National Parks (or see here for the Corcovado National Park or the Manuel Antonio National Park).

What you can expect in Austria (good described and signed paths, good maps, dense net of trails), we don’t have in Costa Rica in most cases. Some places are so remote, that even a hike trail doesn’t exist. The best way is to hire a local guide - he / she will show you not only the right way, but also explain you various plants and animal signs like footprints. We can help you at the camp to find suitable outdoor activities and places.
