Who said you can’t find uncrowded surf in Costa Rica anymore?
I’m a local surfer from San Jose who has never been outside of Costa Rica. I know - what a shame! But at least I got to know my own country with all the surfbreaks. I have surfed almost every spot and I have discovered many unknown breaks. Last week for example I have visited my friends buddies who own a surfcamp in playa hermosa close to santa teresa. I have surfed these breaks around mal pais & santa teresa before and it’s true that it seems like each year the breaks get more crowded.
Just take your time and go for search. Leave the well-known places and find out how many breaks we have. I was lucky again and surfed with my friends from austria a hidden beachbreak for two hours until another couple of guys showed up in the lineup.
Reading some articles about crowded beaches in Costa Rica might keep the crowds out of our country sooner or later but I am a surfer and I can understand why people from other countries choose to travel & surf different spots. I’m a lucky guy - I live here with all the potential surf.
PURA VIDA,
