Sadly to say, Costa Rica is not free of crime. May San José have a bad reputation (which is nothing compared to the neighbouring states), some tourist cities like Tamarindo have become a criminal eldorado for some not so nice ticos.

As a speciality, surfboard theft became a wide spread delict at pacific coast surfer towns. Global Surf News reports about a case, where the entire quiver of surfboards was stolen. Everybody who owns his personal board knows what this means…

If you go to cities like Tamarindo or other very popular places at the coast, take good care of your belongings. At Playa Hermosa de Cobano we still live like on an island of innocence. We hope that this will prevail.
